Outdoor Walkers Overlook Frederick Wedding
Kylie + Stephen Wedding Story
Kylie & Stephen met on the JMU Campus where Stephen was leading the CRU worship band, which she quickly joined. The shared love for others, music, and their faith brought them together and these elements continued to shine throughout their wedding day. The quite literally set the tone for their wedding and marriage, by worshiping together at the beginning of their ceremony to a song that they sang before many times together and held such a deep meaning to them.
“And the heartbeat of my life
Is to worship in Your light
Cause Your glory is so beautiful
Your glory is so beautifulGlory, glory hallelujah
Jesus, You are good”
I love getting to know and celebrate all of my couples regardless of their culture or faith backgrounds, but I couldn’t help feeling a little connected to these guys with the CRU and Harrisonburg roots. The wedding details pulled everything together so beautifully, and I loved how K&S brought so much local flavor into their day with guests enjoying Williamsburg Wine, Harrisonburg Beer, and the best sweet potato biscuits from Hempen Hill BBQ.
Starting from Kylie getting in her dress and seeing her dad for the first time, to walking down the aisle towards her groom, to heartfelt speeches and parent dances, and lots of fun and spirited dance moves, the whole day was full of depth of emotion. Before the wedding, Kylie told me that one of her favorite moments of wedding days is watching the groom see the bride coming down the aisle and she was so looking forward to it being their turn. I also learned about how leading up to the wedding, Stephen came up with a fun and sweet way to celebrate his bride and build excitement for the day by posting a photo of her once a day for the 100 days leading up to the wedding with things he loved about her. There may have been mixed reviews and a lot of laughter about #100KylieSelfies but no one could deny that these two knew how to love and promote each other well and there was no doubt that would carry into their marriage.
These are the moments that are so special for me to be invited into and document. <3
